Role – Area Manager (Level – I)

Job Purpose

To lead the assigned area for achieving business objectives in the Retail Fuel Outlet (HSD & MS) segment. This includes selection and commissioning of new outlets, identification & onboarding of channel partners, driving sales volumes and customer acquisition, and monitoring overall retail operations while ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Job Accountabilities

1. Achieve Business & Sales Targets

  • Deliver sales volume targets for HSD & MS through Retail Fuel Outlets.
  • Implement action plans to achieve market share, volume, and margin objectives.
  • Support state teams in achieving sales targets through close coordination with Head Office.

2. Market Insights & Strategy

  • Continuously monitor the competitive landscape (network, pricing, promotions, product gaps).
  • Provide inputs on pricing and promotional strategies to business leadership.
  • Design and execute demand generation initiatives to maximize outlet throughput.

3. Retail Operations Management

  • Monitor outlet-wise sales and implement initiatives to drive growth.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues with Engineering, IT, Automation, and Sales teams.
  • Ensure safety, asset upkeep, and SOP compliance across retail outlets.
  • Oversee inventory management, stock reconciliation, fee collection, and asset maintenance.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities (PESO, RTO, etc.) for timely approvals and seamless operations.

4. Channel & Stakeholder Management

  • Expand and streamline dealer/channel partner network for maximum market coverage.
  • Strengthen relationships with channel partners to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive new customer acquisition by leveraging fuel retailing USPs.
  • Provide feedback to cross-functional teams for continuous improvement.
  • Support state teams in acquiring required permissions for retail fuel business operations.
  • Ensure timely rollout of automation and digital initiatives with internal teams.

5. Reporting & Compliance

  • Publish MIS reports for stakeholders to track performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory guidelines, and HSSE standards.

Other Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a valid 4-wheeler driving license and be confident in driving.
  • Upon joining, the car should be registered in their own name.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate in any discipline (Engineering preferred).
  • MBA/PGDM in Marketing or Operations is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in Sales/Operations.
  • Minimum 1 year in Area Sales / Territory Sales role in Petroleum Retail Business (HSD/MS).
  • Experience in Retail, FMCG, Consumer Durables, or Automobile channel sales preferred.
